Organized by the Croatian Society for Obesity of the Croatian Medical Association, under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Croatia, the Ministry of Science and Education and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia, the 7th Croatian Congress on the thickness with international involvement. The co-organizers of the event were the Croatian Academy of Medical Sciences, the City of Opatija, the Croatian Gastroenterology Society, the Croatian Endocrinological Society, and the Croatian Society for Diabetes and Metabolism of HLZ. The rich four-day program attracted a respectable number of 450 participants from Croatia and abroad. The peculiarity of the congress was that the EAGEN (European Association for Gastroenterology, Endoscopy and Nutrition) course “Obesity – time to stop it!”, 17th Symposium of the Society for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Diseases, was held for the first time as part of the regular program metabolism of the Croatian Nursing Association (HUMS), a student symposium and a citizenship program.

One of the blocks was dedicated to lifestyle change for the treatment of obesity and was open to the public and moderated by prof. Greta Krešić and prof. Stephen Heimer. Nutritionist Mirela Maric presented a number of positives of the currently very popular Paleo diet, but also warned of potential dangers, in particular the possible deficiency of vitamins B and D and calcium. Cin. Matija Dunaj emphasized the importance of physical activity in weight control, and cin. Sanja Zuljevic how to achieve weight loss with a simple activity such as walking.
